My husband calls me a gadget lover, and I really am. If someone invents just about anything, I want to try it. I would buy every infomercial product if I could. However, this little gadget I found in reading some weight loss sites its called the FitBit.
Its about 2 inches long and very light weight and can track, calories burned, steps taken, stairs climbed, sleep cycle and has a clock and stopwatch. You can clip it to your waistband or bra-very discreet. I wanted to try it to see how may steps I took in an average day and how many calories I burn- clearly not enough. So this little gadget works like a WII, it tracks your body movements in order to get the calories expended. The coolest feature is that you can wear it to bed to see your sleep patterns. It can actually tell you how many hours that you have slept .
The Fitbit will automatically sync to your computer when you are near it and will update your account ( which is free). The FitBit can also sync to Loose It ( another weight loss management too online). What I like best about it, is that its a visual reminder of how much I am moving. Some days I can go well over 10,000 steps and other days I barely reach 3,000. Its nice to monitor your progress on line and see your fitness improve. My only warning is that you remove it before you throw your clothes in the wash, it can be easily lost.
So for $99 its a great investment if you are trying to step up your pace. Initially I wore it for about 2 months straight, and now I wear it a few times a week. Its a reminder to get moving.
