I am sure you are aware of the “Pink Slime” or also referred to as “finely textured lean beef” problem we are having in our food supply. ABC news investigated the mystery meat, which now has the nation enraged. I am so thankful that it came to light, I just wish I knew about it long ago. It really is absurd that the USDA thinks that meat leftovers, if you want to call it that, is suitable for human consumption. The pink slime is used in approximately 70% of ground beef that is sold in the USA. The thought of meat washed in ammonia is just awful, however most fast food meat has gone through this process. The ammonia is used to remove bacteria and make the meat taste better. I will mention that McDonalds stated that they stopped using ammonia treated products in its food over a year ago. Hmmmm, I wonder why that took so long.
